Kacey Coburn is a Bay Area native who has been throwing pots for 13 years. She learned the fundamentals at Terra Linda High School, when she was but a wee, tan-skinned 15-year-old. She continued her ceramic endeavors at UC Davis, which is in Yolo County (she never once said “YOLO” though, just so we’re clear). Today, as a fully grown woman, Kacey throws pots at Ruby’s Clay Studio in San Francisco’s Castro district. Her ultimate goal is to create a functioning ceramic frisbee, but after a few failed attempts, she’s thinking about shifting gears to ashtrays.
